Blue Flame Barbeque

Blue Flame Barbeque

Whenever I visit the Olympic Peninsula, I always visit Port Townsend.  One day I decided to drive West on Hwy 101 to Sequim to hike the Dungeness Spit.  It extends five miles into the Strait of Juan de Fuca and is the longest natural sand spit in the United States.  It’s well worth the beautiful scenic drive from Port Townsend to Port Angeles (45minutes) which is where I happen to find Blue Flame Barbeque by accident.  Apparently, they just opened a couple years ago – good timing!  Their menu varied from steelhead, steak to blue cheese ribs.  I decided to try the Rib eye steak($18.00 -comes with finger salad, potatoes, and roll).  I had to get the medium Rib eye steak because I love steak!  I used to ask for medium rare steak when I was in high school…Ever since I got older..I liked medium.  It was charcoal grilled and it was perfectly seared on the outside and pink inside.  I love salad too…and they had an interesting twist – A finger salad which is just of romaine lettuce, tangy dressing and  sprinkled with onions and blue cheese.

In the summertime whenever I head towards the Olympic Peninsula, I’ll stop by Blue Flame Barbeque for a grilled Rib eye or beef brisket.  Not really much going on in Port Angeles, but well worth the the 45 minute scenic drive from Port Townsend!

Jones Barbeque - Columbia City area

Jones Barbeque - Columbia City area

I finally get to post my all time FAVorite barbeque joint in Seattle – Jones Barbeque!  I would best describe Jones as a Kansas city style BBQ.  They slow roast the meat for hours and slather it with a very rich, very tangy tomato-based sauce that has a good spice to it and the meat is juicy.  My favorite meals are the rib tips, beef brisket with a side of baked beans and their sweet corn bread!  Yum!!  The rib tips are smoke flavored, tender, juicy, and tart and the brisket is amazing.  They come in mild, medium, and spicy.  Their homemade desserts are amazing – ranging from sweet potato pie to peach cobbler.  Jones Barbeque has two locations – Lander Street which is about 12 blocks south from Safeco Field and Ferdinand Street which is basically in Columbia City area.  I would prefer Columbia City if you want a more relaxed and cozy restaurant setting.  Parking is street side and a bonus is across the street there is a lot and it has 5 parking slots for Jones.  Lander Street has more of an industrial setting to it and ample seats.  Overall, I highly recommend Jones barbeque for anyone who loves Kansas city style barbeque.
